In this project, the student will investigate the dynamics of strongly interacting quantum systems in order to explain the recent experimental results. They will learn how to use recently developed mathematical tools useful for analytical calculations and will do High Performance Computing using Graphical Processor Units to simulate numerically the quantum dynamics of many body systems.

Royal Holloway, University of London and the National Quantum Computing Centre are excited to announce a call for applicants for a fully funded doctoral studentship from October 2026, under EPSRC’s Industrial Doctoral Landscape Awards. The student will contribute to the theory of error correction for quantum computers and will be supervised by Dr. Alastair Kay (RHUL) and Dr. Theodoros Kapourniotis (NQCC) . Primarily based at RHUL, the student will spend some time at NQCC as well as becoming part of the wider cohort of NQCC funded students across the UK.

funded PhD studentship from September 2026, funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The world stands at a critical climate tipping point. Yet, a profound psychological barrier hinders climate actions: individuals consistently underestimate others’ contributions and commitment to addressing climate change. The project aims to understand how beliefs about what others, ingroup members and outgroup members, value, believe, and do regarding climate change shapes one’s own pro-climate behaviours and policy preferences.
