For What Matters

For What Matters

The For What Matters Fund is our most agile and impactful source of student support.

It allows us to respond quickly to the most urgent needs of students, whether that is financial hardship, access to equipment, or emergency aid, ensuring students can stay on track and succeed. Donations to the For What Matters Fund don’t just fund education, they provide relief, build belief and transform lives.

Your gift could make studying at Royal Holloway possible for someone who might not have otherwise been able to consider higher education. Scholarships celebrate academic excellence, recognise those who have the potential to make a difference and support the leaders of the next generation.

The For What Matters fund enables the University to direct your support to where it will have the greatest impact on our students. The fund provides financial support to students who experience financial difficulty during their university journey and to students who are directly impacted by global crises such as conflict or natural disasters.

Through your gifts we are also able to provide opportunities for students to develop the skills and confidence they need to shape their futures and positively impact the world.

Your support can help students like Thomas

Scholarships offer students the opportunity to be part of our community and provide support to help them achieve their goals.

"It has made my aspirations a reality" Alison, scholarship recipient

The For What Matters fund contributes to grants for students experiencing financial difficulty. These grants can help to meet a student’s immediate needs, relieving stress and providing some much-needed breathing space to enable the student to seek advice and support to find a way forward.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude for the support you have provided me. The financial assistance I received will make a significant impact on my life, easing my burdens and allowing me to focus on my studies without constant worry." Third year student, studying Management

Grants to students who have been directly impacted by a global crisis such as conflict or natural disaster can be a lifeline, enabling them to continue their studies. In addition to hope for their future, this provides safety and stability at a distressing time. This is an area increasingly in need of our support.
