At the end of last year we held two successful Alumni and Friends events in Beijing and Shanghai. These events were a great opportunity to bring our alumni community together, celebrate shared memories, and launch the new China Alumni Networks.
Alumni from across the years joined us in Beijing on 28 November and Shanghai on 2 December, representing a wide range of industries, experiences and career paths. The evenings offered a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, build new professional relationships, and hear the latest updates from Royal Holloway.
A key highlight of the gatherings was the introduction of Royal Holloway Alumni Networks in China. These new ambassador-led groups will support the University by helping to organise local events, maintain connections throughout the year, and contribute to student recruitment by sharing their experiences with prospective students. To support ongoing engagement, two new WeChat groups were also launched, one for Beijing and one for Shanghai. They provide dedicated spaces for alumni to stay connected, share opportunities and continue the conversations started at the events.
Hosted by Gemma Marenghi, Associate Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, both events were a great success. In the days following the gatherings, some members of the alumni community were already in touch with the Alumni Engagement Team to express their excitement to join us in the future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Beijing and Shanghai. Your engagement and continued support of the University made both events truly memorable. If you are based in China and would like to become involved in our Alumni Networks, join the WeChat groups, or stay informed about future events, please contact us at alumni@rhul.ac.uk.
