Techne

Information for Attendees

Registering Your Attendance:

You need to have registered in advance to attend the Congress. All Techne students should have received a link to the registration form. If you have not received this, please contact the Techne team who can assist.

Once registered, you then need to sign up for individual programme sessions on Inkpath via the Programme tab.

If you want to edit any of the sessions you sign up for on Inkpath, you can easily cancel your place and book onto another session. There will also be a waiting list feature in use for sessions with limited numbers.

Travel Expenses

Techne funded students can claim back their travel expenses for travel to Techne events (unless the event is held at your home institution). Students may only claim travel within the UK and from their home address as recorded at their institution or from another starting point where the travel costs are the same or lower than those from the home address. Please process your expense claim following your institution's expense claim process, quoting 'Techne Congress travel'. See here for more information.

You can find information about getting to the University on the venue page.

Accommodation

Techne has arranged accommodation at Travelodge Brighton Seafront on the night of Thursday Wednesday 24 June. The amount of rooms available is limited, and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Further information about the accommodation will be provided to those who requested a room. If you believe that you requested a room but did not recieve confirmation, please contact the Techne team.

If you no longer require a room that you have requested, you must let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer your room to the next eligible student on the waiting list.

Accessibility and Inclusion

Please indicate any specific access requirements you may have when registering for the Congress so we can ensure that we can put in place anything that you may need, and do not hesitate to contact Techne if we can help at all.

There will be a quiet room on the Ground Floor of the building which for those with a disability has a half floor lift to reach it.

Toilets are gender neutral with individual cubicles with accessible toilets in each block.

Casual Working / Networking Space:

Please note there is no casual working/networking space but there are multiple areas around the Sallis Benney theatre with tables to network and work.

A separate ‘quiet room’ has been organised, and details about this are in the building plan.

Remote Attendance at the Congress

We have been working closely with the AV support team at Brighton to do what we can to enable some form of online attendance for this Congress. Further details on what sessions will be available online will be circulated in due course.

You will be able to sign up to the relevant sessions via Inkpath without needing to register for the Congress as a whole. We will be circulating the links to attend more broadly in due course.

Catering Arrangements & Dietary Requirements

Refreshments will be served throughout the day in the Sallis Benney cafe at the times stated on the programme.

Lunch on both days will be served in the Sallis Benney restaurant at the end of the cafe. Dinner in the evening is not being provided so that you can enjoy the culinary delights of Brighton.  A budget of £20 per head will be claimable.

In line with Techne's sustainability policy, all food offered will be either vegetarian or vegan. If you have any additional dietary requirements, you will need to identify these when you complete the registration form.

Luggage

There is no luggage storage space available at either the hotel or the Congress venue, unfortunately.

We have striven to make our conference accessible and inclusive for all individuals, and we have done our best to accommodate any specific needs you may have. However, please note that we may not be able to fully meet every need or requirement due to limitations beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding and welcome any feedback on how we can improve our efforts towards accessibility and inclusivity in the future.
