Deaf Awareness Training

This session, run by Sign Solutions will cover all the basic skills and knowledge individuals need to acquire when meeting Deaf or Hard of Hearing people for the first time. 

The session will be delivered by a Deaf tutor, and they are supported by a BSL interpreter.

The session will cover: 
- Deaf culture, Deaf humour/history
- Variations in Deaf communication i.e. lip-reading, writing down notes, BSL etc.
- Basic communication tactics
- Fingerspelling and some basic everyday signs.

The sessions to help attendees appreciate all aspects of the Deaf community and culture and learn some basic communication tactics. 

Although there is no assessment, all attendees will be given a Certificate of Attendance.
