Techne
Year 3 Writing Development Course
In Year 3 you need to write, so this three day retreat (two days, then one day a month later) kicks off a month-long, self-directed, writing-development programme. The timed writing sessions on all three days help you reflect on, and refresh, your writing process, and set more realistic goals.
For motivation and perspective, on Day 1 you'll also consider your whole PhD journey. Towards the end of Day 1, you'll share two pages of your text with another participant, together with a paragraph to give your text context. Within carefully structured parameters, peer feedback will be given in breakout rooms at the start of Day 2.
Day 2 also includes more timed writing sessions and short sessions on boosting productivity. At the end of Day 2 you'll create a writing-development plan for the next month.
On Day 3 we’ll review progress, reinforce techniques and, in a mutually supportive space, participants can share tips for moving forward to completion.
Days 1 and 2 are taking place in person at Coram Campus, Brunswick Square. Refreshments will be provided and Techne attendees will be able to reclaim lunch expenses as well. Day 3 will take place online.
