Portfolio careers & future planning via the Octagon Collaboration tool
This session will encourage students to think about portfolio career options through showcasing speakers who have broad experiences of working both inside and outside of academia, and to consider their skills, capabilities and likes and dislikes with a view to portfolio working.
Ghislaine Boddington has worked for the BBC, UKRI, the British Council, and Deutsche Bank among others and is currently a Reader in Digital Immersion at the University of Greenwich. As an award-winning keynote speaker, curator, director and futurist, she will be sharing her experiences over the course of a well established portfolio career .
Dr Sarah Sigal will be speaking from a more early career perspective. Sarah is a writer, dramaturg, director and researcher working across devising site-specific and interactive performance, new writing, film and fiction. Sarah and Ghislaine will be sharing their own experiences, as well as providing hints, tips and practical advice for those beginning a portfolio career.
The final part of the session will be led by Suzie Leighton, Co-Director of TCCE / NCACE who will lead students to think about their own career path and professional development using the Octagon Asset tool. This workshop will help students to identify and understand their own skills and assets and how they could use their networks to build on them. The workshop will also ask participants to reflect on their core purpose, values and likes and dislikes to inform the development of portfolio working.
