Creative practitioners offer institutions and educational hubs a plethora of possibilities and potential – indeed many are seeing the value of creative spaces that host artistic expression, problem solving and necessary disruption to traditional ways of working. But what are the challenges when facilitating these creative collaborations? And how do you catalyse creativity that is released so that it impacts meaningfully and sustainably for the organisation, as well as the practitioner?
Formerly Senior Producer of Residencies at the V&A museum, Jennifer Sturrock has over a decade of experience as a practitioner and working with arts institutions and universities. During this training she will introduce and address the practicalities of working with creative practitioners in cultural spaces, as well as offer tools to effectively navigate and tailor rhythms and frameworks specific to your context.
To understand the value for organisations in bringing creative practitioners or residencies into cultural spaces
To define and develop lines of enquiry that could be explored creatively by practitioners specific to organisational context.
To gain insight into the practical opportunities and challenges of hosting a residency or creative practitioner in a cultural space
To design tools that promote effective collaboration between organisations and creative practitioners
The workshop will be held online on Zoom.
Please note that this training is aimed at those who work in cultural organisations who would like to work with creative practitioners/run artist in residence type opportunities - it is not intended for creative practitioners who are interested in undertaking residencies.
This workshop will be run by Jennifer Sturrock. Born in Edinburgh, Jennifer is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and educator who integrates textiles, fashion and writing.
