Own Words: Techne Writing Congress

16th Jan 2023 - 17th Jan 2023

Register here!

Dates: 16th & 17th January 2023

Venue: Leonardo Royal Hotel, Tower Bridge, London

For our next Techne Congress we are stepping outside of our usual pattern to offer something a little different. Instead of the conference being hosted at one of our institutions, we will be holding a special writing event organised by colleagues from across the Techne universities.

This Congress is dedicated to the art and artefacts of the written word. Join us for interactive workshops, presentations and social spaces that explore writing for academia, arts practice, and industry. The two-day event provides the opportunity to learn from expert speakers and reflect on your own projects, with key themes including race and writing, different routes to publishing, writing and wellbeing, and targeting your audience. There are also writing retreat style activities so you can put your inspiration straight into practice. We will have a dedicated 'writing room' so you can put your head down and get some writing done if you would prefer that to a timetabled session.

Responding to feedback from previous events, this congress aims to have a specific focus, while encouraging networking and socialising. We welcome student-led activities and suggestions. Participants can immerse themselves in an eclectic mix of sessions, ideal for getting fresh perspectives on their work. Above all, we are planning an in-person event that promotes serendipitous meetings and a creative atmosphere; we hope to see you there.

Accommodation is provided free of charge for Techne students - just ensure that you select accommodation when you make your Eventbrite booking.

Please book in by the deadline of Monday 12th December 2022.

More information about the programme will be released soon.
