In the wake of Covid-19 we each bring different perspectives and experiences of living through a global pandemic. The history of pandemics and epidemic diseases of the past can help us reflect on those lived experiences and encourage new encounters with the cultural artefacts that remain. This 1-day interactive workshop will introduce participants to a range of materials from the Wellcome Collection that focus on the theme of pandemic and epidemic disease, including artworks, documents, manuscripts and self-published materials from several different historical periods and parts of the world.
Working with creative practitioners, artists and Wellcome Collection specialists, participants will be encouraged to respond creatively and reflectively to Collection materials, drawing on their own collective and individual lived experiences. Lunch and afternoon coffee breaks will enable networking and informal discussion. During the lunch students will also have the chance to visit the On Happiness exhibition at Wellcome Collection. Breakfast, lunch and coffee will be provided.
To take part in this workshop please send approx. 100-150 words explaining why you would like to attend and your interests in the Collection email@example.com by midday on Wednesday 15th September. This workshop will take place in person at the Wellcome Collection (Euston Road, London). The event will be made Covid-sure through the
