Techne Training Day at the Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1Z
Organized by Stephen Rose (Royal Holloway) and Katharine Hogg (Foundling Museum)
This day introduces techniques for studying the material characteristics of early modern manuscript and printed sources, such as scribal hands, paper types and watermarks, with a particular focus on musical sources. You will gain hands-on practice with such techniques, using 18th-century manuscripts in the collection of the Foundling Museum (Techne CDA partner), under the guidance of world-leading specialists Dr Alan Howard (Cambridge University) and Professor Donald Burrows (Open University). You will also be introduced to the collections of the Foundling Museum and the learning opportunities offered there.
